The goal of the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform is improved care. I only included the top story, page 1, about the new TOD (Transfer on Deed) that became effective on January 1, 2016. I work with a lot of attorneys and sit in on numerous MCLE luncheon meetings with the Pasadena Bar Association. According to Carol Peters, this is an ‘Estate’ issue but relevant to the EOLA/End Of Life Act which is a “Person” issue. Legal/medical education is needed for attorneys to learn and understand the new landscape of these two new global changes, for the Estate/Person issues which are addressed and served by Conservatorship, the expensive Judicial remedy when in doubt about ‘the Patient’s Intent’ for Physicians and medical staff who are charged with “having the conversation”.
